If you want your storage shed to last long then you have to provide a solid floor and foundation to it. Most of the people try to cut back on price incurred in building floor but without a solid floor the lifespan of your shed will be reduced. Most of the outside storage sheds comes without floors. It depends upon you to select and install your own floor foundation for the shed. The type of floor to be installed for storage shed depends on how you’re going to use the shed.
If you require the shed for storing simple items like cardboard boxes or family keepsakes then you can build the shed on bare ground in the backyard. |
| Do remember to place your shed somewhere in the yard where there is a slight rise to the ground, so water will not collect on the floor. The best option for a storage shed is to build it on concrete floor foundation. This will protect the items stored inside from water and mice or bugs. Another floor option is wood which can easily be built by using standard two by fours. Both the concrete and wooden floors should be at least one foot larger than the shed on all sides. |
